By Assunta Perilli
In the Laga mountains, during the autumn evenings and by the light of the faint oil lamps and the fire, women spent their time spinning the carded wool and conversing. They used the spindle and the distaff to twist the thread and collect it in skeins, which were then put through the warping machine before being mounted on the loom in order to give life to fabrics of all kinds; a patient and repetitive action, practiced with the same tools since the Neolithic Age.
