Feast of the Italic pork

Municipality of Campli
Feast of the Italic pork
At the end of August, Campli hosts one of the oldest and most renowned food and wine festivals in Abruzzo, dedicated to porchetta. This culinary specialty, made from pork seasoned with wild fennel and rosemary, is slow-roasted to achieve the perfect crispiness. The streets fill with food stands serving porchetta prepared according to traditional recipes, paired with local wines. A highly anticipated competition brings together the finest porchettari in the region, all vying for the prestigious title of “Porchetta of the Year”. The contestants adhere to local traditions, using fresh ingredients and artisanal cooking techniques. A panel of experts evaluates each entry based on flavor, texture, and presentation, while a popular jury also casts its vote. The event culminates with the announcement of the winners and the chance for attendees to savor the exquisite porchetta.
