First created by the parish priest Don Nicola Jobbi and the community of Cerqueto at Christmas 1966, the Living Nativity is a reenactment that involves the entire village, from the delicate and complex directing of the performance, to the preparation of the narrated text and the soundtrack as well as the participation in the various roles that embody the sacred history starting from the origins of Creation, until the birth of Jesus and the homage of the shepherds and the three Magi kings.
Performed on a ridge of rock that dominates the village, with lighting effects that exploit the natural cavities and the environmental and scenic variations offered by the vegetation, the Living Nativity Scene, organized by the Pro Loco of Cerqueto, is one of the most evocative stagings of the Nativity present in Italy.
